The Philippines has been honored with three nominations at the Asia Best of Best Awards, reflecting the nation’s commitment to excellence in tourism. This prestigious recognition shines a light on the robust efforts made by the Department of Tourism (DOT) to uplift the industry.
One of the nominations is for the “Love the Philippines” marketing initiative, which launched in June 2023. This campaign aims to reintroduce the Philippines to global tourists, spotlighting the country’s natural beauty, diverse culture, and renowned hospitality. Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco emphasized the campaign’s role in building a narrative around the nation’s unique charm and warmth, attracting international attention and receiving over 59.1 million positive social media reactions within just 24 hours of its debut.
Innovative Visitor Support: Tourist Assistance Call Center
The DOT’s Tourist Assistance Call Center, another nominee, plays a crucial role in enhancing visitor experiences. By offering real-time support and travel information via multiple platforms, this service exemplifies best customer support practices. As Secretary Frasco highlighted, ensuring seamless tourist experiences begins even before visitors arrive in the country. With an impressive record of handling over 10,000 inquiries and maintaining an 84% satisfaction rate, the center remains integral to the DOT’s tourism strategy.
Leadership Recognition: Frasco as Best Woman Leader
Tourism Secretary Frasco’s leadership is celebrated through her nomination for Best Woman Leader. Her initiatives have positioned the DOT among the most trusted agencies in the nation, achieving 90% job performance approval. Frasco has advocated for crucial advancements, including developing infrastructure and expanding dive tourism, paving the way for wider tourism accessibility and sustainable growth as outlined in the comprehensive National Tourism Development Plan.
Support for the Philippines can be voiced through voting, open until September 30, 2024, on the official event platforms. The award winners will be announced at a ceremony in Dubai on November 9, 2024. These nominations are a testament to the DOT’s dedication to elevating Philippine tourism on the international stage.
