Pangasinan Polytechnic College: A Milestone in Education for Pangasinense Youth

Pangasinan Polytechnic College (PPC) emerges as a pivotal educational initiative in Lingayen, Pangasinan, aiming to provide affordable, high-quality education to local youth. Spearheaded by Governor Ramon V. Guico III, this unique project sets a precedent as the province’s first government-managed tertiary institution—reflecting the administration’s focus on widening access to learning opportunities.

Governor Guico’s dedication to education isn’t novel; his advocacy dates back before his political tenure. His foundation of the University of Eastern Pangasinan (UEP) previously showcased his commitment to empowering underprivileged students through education.

Currently, PPC has already welcomed 700 scholars into diverse programs including Agribusiness, Special Needs Education, Multimedia Arts, and Public Administration with a focus on Local Governance. Besides these degree programs, it addresses practical job market demands by offering free vocational courses and skills training for the unemployed.

PPC extends further with short courses that nurture skills in Digital Animation, Indigenous Education, and Tourism Development Planning. These initiatives cater to individuals pursuing enhanced competencies in specialized areas.

Looking forward, Governor Guico envisions including medical and allied health courses, stressing the importance of accessible education for future medical professionals. This ambition aligns with his State of the Province Address: “Excellence demands that we make medical education available, accessible, and affordable for our future doctors of Pangasinan.”

The advent of PPC signifies a major step in educational reform for Pangasinan, with long-term prospects for developing highly capable professionals tailored to regional needs. The college underscores a commitment to building an educated workforce poised to contribute meaningfully to the community and beyond.
