In a historic gathering on October 3, 2024, approximately 400 students joined the General Assembly and Recognition Day for Lingayen Scholarship Program (LSP) recipients. This event marked the celebration of graduates from the first batch of the scholarship, highlighting the ongoing commitment to educational support.
Under LSP, each scholar receives a financial grant of Php 5,000 per semester, aiming to alleviate financial burdens that could hinder their academic success. Mayor Leopoldo N. Bataoil emphasized the town’s dedication to supporting young residents in achieving their goals. ‘This program is designed with the council’s consensus and my approval as your Mayor. Always give thanks for the blessings aiding your education,’ he remarked.
Supporting the cause, prominent local leaders like Vice Mayor Mac Dexter Malicdem and Councilor Jolo Lopez, chair of the Committee on Education, shared inspirational messages during the event. Appreciation was also extended to Councilor JM Crisostomo, the ordinance’s author, and Councilor Jonathan Ramos.
Recognition was given to scholars from LSP’s initial batch, whose recent graduation marks a milestone in the program’s success. Over 500 scholars currently benefit from LSP, with ongoing efforts promised by Mayor Bataoil to expand initiatives enhancing youth futures in Lingayen. The program reflects a critical investment in educational quality and accessibility, fostering a brighter path for students in the community.
