Typhoon Aid Exceeds PHP 610 Million for Northern Luzon

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has announced substantial financial assistance and support services for communities in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) affected by Typhoon Julian. Over PHP 610 million has been allocated to aid recovery efforts in these northern regions of the Philippines.

Comprehensive Support Packages
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is leading relief efforts with a PHP 9 million standby fund. It has prepared 245,506 family food packs and non-food items, collectively valued at PHP 421.57 million. These provisions are designed to provide immediate relief to the thousands impacted by the storm.

Health and Agriculture Interventions
Enhancing healthcare support, the Department of Health (DOH) has delivered health commodities worth PHP 7.25 million to the affected areas. An additional PHP 8.4 million in logistical support has been strategically prepositioned to bolster regional health infrastructure.
In parallel, the Department of Agriculture (DA) has distributed agricultural inputs amounting to PHP 164.27 million. Recognizing the critical role of farmers in regional economies, the DA is providing loans of PHP 25,000 per farmer alongside indemnification for insured cultivators who suffered losses during the typhoon.

Extending a Lifeline
As of Thursday evening, more than 63,000 families have been affected across Northern Luzon. In an effort to alleviate immediate hardships, 148 families are currently sheltered in evacuation centers within Cagayan Valley and CAR. “Our aim is to ensure that all affected individuals receive the necessary support promptly,” local officials emphasized.
These concerted government efforts underscore a commitment to swift recovery and resilience-building for future adversities, highlighting an approach that blends immediate aid with sustainable agricultural and health solutions.
