San Carlos City in Pangasinan has been bustling with various development projects aimed at uplifting the community, especially its farmers, children, and those in need of housing.
One of the major initiatives recently carried out was the distribution of 20 hand tractors to local farmers. These machines, provided by the local government in collaboration with the farmers’ association, aim to boost agricultural productivity and improve the livelihood of farmers in the city. The program is part of the broader effort to modernize agriculture in the region, ensuring farmers have access to the necessary tools to cultivate their land more efficiently.
In addition to agricultural support, the local government, under the leadership of Mayor Julier “Ayoy” Resuello and Vice Mayor Joseres “Bogs” Resuello, has also prioritized infrastructure improvements. One of the most notable projects is the paving of a new concrete road in Sitio Balag, Barangay Aponit. This road, previously a dirt path, is crucial for both residents and farmers, as it serves as a primary route for transporting goods, especially during harvest season. The new road is expected to ease transportation and speed up travel times for both residents and agricultural machinery, which has been met with gratitude from the community.
Another significant development is in housing. The local government, in partnership with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), has initiated the process of providing affordable housing to the city’s residents. The project, which aims to construct more than 2,000 housing units—potentially expanding to 5,000—will take the form of condominium-type homes rather than traditional bungalows. The housing units will be built in San Juan, San Carlos City, and are expected to begin construction by early 2025. This project brings hope to many residents who do not own homes, as it provides an opportunity for affordable housing.
Furthermore, the city is also focusing on the well-being of children through the Supplementary Feeding Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Recently, food items were distributed to children enrolled in daycare centers across San Carlos City, ensuring that they receive proper nutrition while attending school.
These projects reflect the ongoing efforts of the local government to address the diverse needs of its citizens—from agricultural support and infrastructure improvements to housing and child welfare. As these initiatives continue to roll out, the city is poised for growth and development, providing its residents with improved resources and opportunities.
