LINGAYEN, PANGASINAN — Pangasinan’s commitment to revitalizing local tourism has earned it the title of Region 1’s Best Province in Local Tourism Planning. The accolade, awarded during the Region 1 Tourism Summit 2024 in San Fernando City, La Union, was accepted by Ms. Maria Luisa A. Elduayan of the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office.
The honor highlights the province’s exceptional contributions to local tourism, aligning with regional goals to foster tourism growth. Since July 2022, Governor Ramon V. Guico III has prioritized initiatives to revive Pangasinan’s tourism, spearheading projects like the See Pangasinan Listening Tours and a mobile accreditation caravan. These efforts have boosted local tourism enterprises from 230 in 2021 to 355 in 2022.
One standout initiative is the transformation of Casa Real into the Banaan Pangasinan Provincial Museum, showcasing the rich heritage and culture of the region. These developments have positioned Pangasinan as a premier destination for both local and international tourists.Governor Guico stated, “We are committed to enhancing participatory governance in tourism, acting as a catalyst to invigorate the tourism industry across the province.” His administration’s strategy includes engaging micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as pivotal economic drivers, further advancing their participation through successful events like the Manila Fame and International Food Expo.
With these achievements, Pangasinan is poised to continue advancing its tourism strategy, fostering sustainable growth and economic opportunities for its residents. The province’s success models an innovative approach that harmonizes local culture with economic development.
